Trainee Projects Estimator/Surveyor.

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Trainee Projects Estimator / Surveyor for our expanding family run Facilities & Maintenance company based in Bishops Stortford.

Full guidance and training will be given to the successful applicant, with progression opportunities within our team to a qualified Projects Estimator or potentially a Projects Coordinator depending on desire.

Following relevant guidance and training from our experienced team, you will be conducting surveys and preparing site audits for the projects team. Therefore,. you must hold high attention to detail to ensure the provision of accurate measurements for our various construction projects.

You will be responsible for your own efficient diary management and be working in line with personal KPIs and client based SLAs, alongside our project managers.

This role is split between office based working and moving across sites, to enable you to complete site surveys as required. Therefore a full driving licence and the ability to travel into central London is a must.

This is an exciting opportunity, offering progressing within the company and training opportunities. This would suit a college leaving looking to move into a projects facilities/maintenance led role, or someone with some trades experience looking to move into a multi-functional role.

 

Duties

  • Conducting site audits and surveys, understanding the requirements needed for the projects team to price and successfully commence works.
  • Preparing accurate survey reports, and site audits using our systems and CRM's.
  • Collaborating with and working alongside our projects team, engineers, and directors to ensure accurate assessment and measurements of projects, for planning, pricing and design by the Project Management Team.
  • Ensuring all relevant equipment is on board for use and calibrated / in working order.
  • Gaining knowledge of the risk levels for each project, to enable the completion of RAMS and method statements.
  • Gaining an understanding of safety protocols and guidelines to ensure safe working practice with on site.
  • Conducting project completion site visits to ensure final works confirm to all requirements.
  • Assisting the projects team with various projects and works as required, both site and office based.
  • Gaining new suppliers and sub contractors, with direction from the projects team, completing the onboarding process and price comparison exercises on a periodic basis.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors and vendors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Desired candidate would hold A level or relevant Trade qualifications.
  • Experience in a trades role would be an advantage or desire to learn estimating, surveying.
  • Dedicated to maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • An understanding of site surveying, equipment and reporting requirements.
  • Competent with Microsoft word, excel, project, access and power point.
  • Strong proven mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of site plans, O&Ms for projects.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Self Motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must hold a valid Driver's Licence.
