Team Lisa 3 Peaks Challenge

Climbing Britains 3 largest Peaks in 1 Day
TEN men from Harlow took on the mighty challenge of the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland in 24 hours to raise over £7,000 for Breast Cancer UK.
The friends completed the Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Lisa Sheppard (nee Mahoney) who died aged 52 in November 2015 after losing her battle with the disease.
Mrs Sheppard, a mother-of-three and grandmother-of-four, was well-known in Harlow and for 28 years worked for Harlow Age Concern.
Her sons Paul and Bill Edwards were part of the group. They were joined by Andy Smith, Carl Smith, Jamie Smith, Rolph Gilson, Karl Schellenberg, Rory O’Brian, Jack Davies and Sammi Elgazzar.
They climbed Scafell Pike in Cumbria, Snowdon in Wales and Ben Nevis in Scotland.
Andy Smith said: “Overall the challenge went very well. We started at 2pm on Friday at Ben Nevis.
“We allowed ourselves five hours to get up and down, and managed to fulfil this goal.
“Scafell Pike was by far the hardest climb. We started in pitch black darkness at 1am after a five and a half hour drive.
“It was the steepest, coldest, windiest, most challenging of climbs, but we managed it, taking slightly longer than anticipated.
“With the long drive from the Lake District to Wales we started to climb Mount Snowdon needing to make up 30 minutes to give us a chance of finishing within the 24 hour target.”
We climbed up the Pyg Trail which was shorter, but busier, and steeper.
“Once reaching the top the only way we were going to make it down in time was to take the Ranger Trail. This route was longer, but with a far more gentle descent gave us the opportunity to run or jog to the finish line.
“We gave it everything we had and officially finished with five minutes to spare. An amazing achievement by all.”
As we bring to a close this years fund raising we can announce we raised £8.5k!
So we celebrated with a BBQ. Food, drink, family and friends!!!
Well done Team Lisa
